Nov 7 and 8 - Sangeeth Natak Academy Workshop Series On Abhinaya: Rasavikalpam - 'Rasa' is that which is perceived or sensed by the audiences of 'Natya' (drama/dance) . The cardinal treatise on dramaturgy - 'Natyashastra' propounds that there are eight types of 'Rasa' such as Srngara (love), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (Compassion), Roudra (Anger), Veera (Courage), Bhayanaka (Fear), Beebatsa (Disgust), and Adhbuta (Wonder). 'Rasa' is evoked by the dancer through systematic and diligent practice of 'Abhinaya' (expression of emotions). When the intended 'Rasa' is experienced by the audience, the performer has been able to reach out in a compelling and convincing manner to those witnessing the show. Based on the Rasa theory of the 'Natyashastra', Savitha will conduct a workshop on 'Use of visualization techniques in developing 'Rasa' for students and aspirants of 'Natya' (Trivandrum, Kerala)
